  • Boys Chute Dogging 9 to 13

  • Steer Stopping 9 to 13

  • Girls Goat Tying 14 to 18

  • Girls Barrel Racing 14 to 18

Note: Except for pee wee events, all contestants must provide their own horse and equipment. 


Dry Camping is available and FREE.
Portable pens are allowed. (please be considerate of space)

NO RESERVATIONS & very limited amount
Overnight pens $25/night
RV Hookups (power & water only) $35/night

Mutton Busting 

Saturday, August 13th at 3:30 PM
Use contestant entrance for parking

Check-in at the Rodeo Office at 3 PM
Participant ribbon to all contestants

Top (5) contestants will advance for a chance to compete for the champion title & buckle in the evening rodeo performance that starts at 6 PM, Saturday August 13th

Requirements:

  • Paid entry form, fees are non-refundable. Limited to 30 contestants

  • No late entries

  • Required to complete and sign Gilroy Rodeo Waiver and Release Form at check in

  • Must check-in during allocated times

  • Contestants must weigh less than 60 lbs

  • Riders wear western attire (long sleeve shirt, jeans & boots), please no spurs

  • Contestants can hang on however they choose.

  • Contestants will not be FORCED to ride by a parent.

  • All contestants will be given a score regardless of their time.

  • All judges decisions are final.

  • Limit one parent/guardian per child in arena during event

  • Vest and helmet to be worn, there will be some provided, but are not guaranteed to fit. You are encouraged to bring your own if you have access to your own equipment.
